2024年3月23日雅思大作文真题:
In many countries students who leave high school have no understanding of how to manage their money. Why is this case? What can be done to improve students' understanding of how to manage personal finance?在许多国家,离开高中的学生不了解如何管理他们的钱。为什么会出现这种情况?可以做些什么来改进学生对如何管理个人财务的理解?
It has been claimed for years that consumerism has impeached into every aspect of our lives, and what irritates educators the most is the fact that many new adults who just graduated from high school and entered the next episode of their lives have literally no clue about personal financial management.Although juveniles are often scolded for squandering their allowance, the existing educational system is to blame. Under the current curriculum in high school, teenagers are preoccupied with mountains of school work and academic competitions, spending hours on lectures, assignments and extra tutoring, with no extra time left for learning the basics of financial management. Unfortunately, despite being fully aware of such situations, school boards ignore or, what is worse, refuse the demand for adding extra-curricular life skills into the teaching syllabus. Therefore, it is unreasonable to accuse contemporary high school graduates of knowing little about personal finance when nothing related is taught in their classes. In order to relieve such dilemma, innovative reformation should take place on and off campus to eliminate the current financial illiteracy prevailing among teenagers. Since economics has been listed as compulsory in many education systems, it is natural for teachers to give more detailed instructions on personal finance, such as setting budgets, keeping tally books, and sorting up one’s investment portfolio, while imparting more general terms like demand and supply. On vacations, part-time jobs could integrated into off-campus activities so that students can gain a deeper understanding of the value of money and be better motivated to start their financial management. In a nutshell, our education system is supposed to shoulder the responsibility of preparing students to be qualified social members instead of single-dimensional learning machines.
